Making a Back-up Plan

1 Week Before your Wedding: Making a Back-up Plan

The big question has been popped, and plans for the big day are you are looking forward to saying your vows. Are you considering an outdoor wedding? The splendor and glamour that accompanies saying your vows outdoor under bright blue skies is a dream to savor. However, sometimes, this is far from reality in some instances. The mere thought of a rainy, messy, and chilly day, may make you flee the whole idea and settle for the more reassuring options, albeit against your desires.

Having plan A, B, and possibly even C. This helps eradicates any additional anxiety and tension on the day of the wedding. Should anything happen, you can convert to the next plan that works best for the situation. Luck is the result when preparation meets opportunity, and hence the following point to consider averting running into a crisis.

Reserve and Indoor Space

Some venues have indoor options to your benefit during the wedding should weather not swing your way.It might cost your pocket an extra amount topreserve the extra space, but if it means keeping your guests dry and warm, then it is well worth the try. Good news is that backup plans are not packages that you must either have it all or you get nothing kind of situations. You can hold a portion of your event outdoors such as your ceremony or the cocktail hour and then move the dinner and dancing inside when wet weather strikes negatively.

Pause and Reinvent the Ceremony

As is often the nature of rains in the summer, the showers go away just as quickly as they came in. If the prediction is that the showers will pass soon you can choose to talk to the service providers to alter the order of events, and start with the celebration instead. However, passing rain may mean a wet lawn and one that is too sloppy to stand or dance on. One easy backup plan is to repurpose the venue and create a unique outdoor dance floor such as the wedding aisle runner that is a guarantee to keep everyone's feet dry and the bride's gown clean and away from the mud.

Heat Up

Warming things up is a great way to ensure that your outdoor party is alive. Unexpected cold changes may happen, but that's not a reason to head indoors. Bringing in good heaters to use outside to increase the warmth in the area, and creating unique fire points for a casual guest setting will be an awesome addition. Add lots of mugs of hot drinks and other hot treats and guests will be enjoying the event to notice the sudden change in the air.

Tent Up

The good old backup option is to put up a tent on the grounds. This ensures you get the outdoor surroundings with plenty of coverage from the elements. However, to use this option, you will need to check with the venue. Make sure a tent can be allowed on the property, and whether or not you need to work with a specific vendor.

Ensure you receive a quote from the venue or tenting company, and then add the backup plan cost into your original budget. It's also important to know when you'll need to let the tenting providers know you want to use their services.

While a tent may not be quite what you had in mind, it can be a flexible option acting as a blank canvas to meet your theme and achieve the outdoors style you want. The tent idea should not dampen you they also come in various styles and designs. This enables you to stay as close to your intended dream as much as possible. Tents may come with clear sides and top panels, allowing for unobstructed, breathtaking views. If you don't need to use them as a result of clear weather, they can be pulled and tied to the poles, in a fashionable way making it look like part of the overall décor plan.

Get Protection

Weather prediction is a real struggle. Even professional meteorologists have an uphill climb being exact. Therefore Backup plans are a must, and added protection is good to have too. Consider procuring event insurance. If there are points within the day that will succumb to Mother Nature, then it's possible that you could get cover for some of the costs that you may end up incurring.

Include "In Case of Rain" Info

When you intend to have an outdoor wedding, without the possibility of adding a tent or going inside, consider adding a note on the transportation or accommodations card. This is to ensure your guests check your website for any changes. This way, should you alter things the last minute; you can quickly update everyone, without inconveniencing them.

Plan the Photography

Arrange with the photographer well in advance. Get to know the options are available should the weather make a sudden change. It is essential for the photographer to plan where everyone will be taking the necessary shots of your portraits and decor, so everyone isn't scrambling to find locations at a moment's notice.

Ensure you have the Necessities

There are some useful essentials that you'll want to bring along should a surprise shower show up. Carry umbrellas, ponchos, and or blankets for the guests. Stock up on clear plastic painters' tarps to protect your linens, food cans, or anything exposed that might get wet when a sprinkle drops. A backup generator is essential in case the power goes out.
