You should pick up your wedding dress and the groom’s tuxedo a few days before the ceremony. This allows some room to make final adjustments. You do not want to pick these up on the morning of your wedding only to realize that they need cleaning or ironing. The following are the events leading to the day of picking up clothes.

Picking up the Dress and Tuxedo

So there are just 7-10 days to the wedding and you can’t wait to take your wedding attire home. You might be surprised to note that the fitting has changed. This is especially true if you have added or lost some weight. It is time to make the very final alterations and to stick to a diet that favors your weight.

Try the clothes one last time to ensure that any changes that you requested have been effected. Move around the room to ensure that you can actually walk comfortably. Makes sure that there are no obvious wrinkles or pulling of material. If your dress is full-length, ensure that its hems touch the tops of your shoes.

Preserving the Clothes Properly

You can choose to leave the dress at the seamstress shop or take it home right away. If you choose to leave it there, you know that nobody will accidentally touch it at home. The shop should ensure that it is placed in its own polyethylene case and bag.

Going home with your dress a week before the wedding helps your mind to visualize the day. Just ensure that kids will not access it and try it on themselves. More importantly, keep it under lock and key so that you can preserve its beauty and allure for the wedding day.
