Stay Calm and Relax

1 Day Before your Wedding: Stay Calm and Relax

We have seen from past experiences how brides-to-be develop nervousness, fright, excitement, and fear of the unknown just before their wedding. It is obvious that you wake up on the morning of your wedding with all sorts of emotions. But there do not have to overwhelm you so much that you will ruin your big day.

There is a flurry of activity with people coming and going and others calling your phone for directions, final clarifications and more. Just how do you handle this pressure and still manage to keep things normal? Here is a guideline of 13 tips and tricks to help you relax and have fun at your wedding ceremony.

  1. Sleep early the previous night

You need to be fresh and relaxed on the day of your wedding. Spend the eve of the ceremony by going easy on preparations. After all, everything should be ready by now. Their usual excitement will run high, and that makes you drift to sleep slower than other days. Hit the sack early that evening and get a good night’s sleep under fresh sheets and warm blankets.

  1. Bring out your wedding attire

Layout your wedding dress, lingerie, shoes, and accessories on a flat surface such as a bed. Remove all tags and pins from the stores, and have the photographer take shots the day before the wedding. Let the bridesmaids do the same for their outfits too. Lipstick, cologne, mints, and makeup should be ready presumably on a clutch bag nearby.

  1. Observe mindfulness

Take time to think, reflect and feed your mind. The night before your wedding can be hectic, with nervous bridesmaids and excited family members milling around your house. Break from the crowd and spend a couple of hours alone. It can be relaxing an empowering to listen to mindful music that puts you in the right frame of mind.

  1. Don’t forget to feed

Many brides are usually too excited to eat the night before the wedding and the morning of the big day. Your breakfast is perhaps going to be the most important meal that day. Have a healthy hearty one that will provide enough energy for the activities ahead. Granola, cereal, fresh fruit, and natural yogurt is good. Down it with a cup of calming herbal tea. Avoid cheesy foods that may make you feel bloated.

  1. Pamper and treat yourself

When you wake up in the morning, let there be provisions for you to pamper yourself. Take a nice warm bath with oils and flower petals. While at it, play some chilling music and light some scented candles. Apply some all body moisturizer and treat yourself to the finer lotions that life can afford.

  1. Have a hair and makeup timeline

Just how long will the hair and makeup stylists take to work on you? Slot enough time and learn whether or not you need to wash your hair in advance. Let there be no confusion among the girls in your bridal party as far as who goes first. You should have a leader among them to guide the whole procedure.

  1. Wear new pajamas the previous night

You do not want to sleep in the same old t-shirt and pair of shorts that you have used for many months. Buy some delightful nightdress. A silk or cotton robe comes in handy to help you feel fabulous on the night before your wedding. Your photographer may want to snap away some pictures. Do not appear in old or scruffy pajamas.

  1. Take advantage of calming scents

Do you have a set of favorite scents? Light them up in your bedroom on the night of the wedding through the morning. The lovely aroma comes in handy to help you relax and look forward to the ceremony. Many days after the wedding, the scents will remind you of your big day, and that is an added bonus.

  1. Play some sweet music

Your DJ should already have a playlist of your (and the groom’s) favorite wedding tracks. These should start playing long before the wedding ceremony starts in earnest. As you bathe, dress, wear makeup and get ready to leave the house, sweet, happy relaxing music should fill the airwaves for a delightful morning.

  1. Toast some bubbly with your bridal party

It is not too early to let the celebrations begin, pour yourself some bubbly wine. Do not take strong alcohol as it will dehydrate your body and sap away the much-needed energy. A little wine removes the nervousness and can go a long way to increase your confidence. You can then have some more at the reception once the official bit is over.

  1. Final touches on planning

On the morning of your wedding, there is no time to call vendors. It is the responsibility of your wedding planner to do so days before the ceremony. The bride should just check in with the planner with a checklist of all provisions and planning. It is not the time to call caterers to check if food is almost ready and that they have enough number of plates.

  1. Have an assuring inner circle

Surround yourself with trusted family members who are also part of the wedding party. At this point, you need people to reassure you that everything has been planned for and that the ceremony will go per schedule. Nominate a mature member of your bridal team to handle all questions regarding the venue, transportation, and other logistics.

  1. Have enough time before the ceremony

Drive to the venue of the ceremony early in the morning to see how it looks. This goes a long way in reassuring yourself that indeed you are going to tie the knot. Look at the décor, flowers and sink in the visual allure of the venue. It can be overwhelming and at times shocking for the bride to set eyes on the venue as she walks down the aisle. It is like a blindfold being removed from your eyes. To avoid this, have enough time to acclimatize.

Allowing enough time is important to accommodate last-minute rushes and delays. This also allows you to check on your immediate family members such as parents, siblings and close friends to ensure that they are well and ready. There you go. Your wedding is now all set.
