Rehearsal Dinner

1 Day Before your Wedding: Enjoy your Rehearsal Dinner

Your rehearsal dinner is the best chance to carry out traditional family functions and to share special moments. It is the time to gift your bridal party for agreeing to travel with you along the journey.

These include parents from both sides, siblings, the groomsmen, bridesmaids, best man, maid of honor, ring bearer ad flower girl. Giving them gifts personally shows your deepest appreciation.

The dinner is an intimate affair and should only be attended by a select few from your families. Parents, siblings, close relatives should attend. The rehearsal dinner is the best time to bond families from the two sides.

Chances are that they have met before, but this opportunity is great to reintroduce everyone before you all come together to the ceremony the next day. The parents of the groom and bride have the opportunity to make speeches. They can relive the lives of their son and daughter from birth, through schooling and into adulthood.

This is the opportunity to establish unity and rekindle the love between both families and to fine-tune the details of the wedding. Brothers and sisters can also make brief speeches and toast to the couple. They can share funny stories from events that they went through in the past.

The brother of the bride can narrate how they used to play in the forest during holidays when they visited their grandparents in the countryside. Now that the girl is going to be united with her husband, the final dinner is usually very symbolic.

The bride and groom should also speak briefly, but without being rushed. They should thank everyone for assistance, prayers, attendance, love, and support. Allot enough time to have dinner and drinks together.

Plan the schedule so that everything ends not later than 10 p.m. Allow attendees to retire to bed early in preparation for the big day ahead. You can leave the younger ones behind to celebrate a little longer in the night.

Dos and Don’ts of Rehearsal Dinner

  • Find a central location to have your rehearsal dinner. It should be convenient especially for aging parents.
  • Connect with family and friends who you may not have time to chat at the wedding ceremony.
  • Limit the provisions of the rehearsal dinner without being too extravagant.
  • Do not overindulge in food and alcohol. You want to be sober and comfortable on your wedding day.
  • Do not work under pressure to provide what you cannot afford.
  • While inviting attendees, give them an idea of the menu on the rehearsal meal and drinks.
  • Do not expect any gifts on the rehearsal dinner. It is all about connecting with family and close the wedding party.
  • Have a simple and inexpensive photography service at the rehearsal dinner.
  • Restrict the rehearsal dinner to adults only. If children have to attend, they should only be those in your wedding party.
  • Allow the spouses of the members of your wedding party to attend the rehearsal dinner.
  • Arrange for the accommodation of parents, siblings, and attendees who have come from far away.
  • Have the rehearsal dinner at a location near your reception spot.
