Your search for the dress has come to an end. However, you need to have a few inches off the bust and a few more on the hips to flatter your body shape. You have also settled on your chosen seamstress. She is going to add the touch of magic on your dress. This step by step guide to fitting your wedding dress will help you to figure out what should come next.
Unlike the other dresses that you have purchased before, your wedding dress will not come ready to wear.
There is an entire process between your dress purchase and the walk down the aisle. Before you go for your first fitting, ensure that:
You have the undergarments you want to wear on your big day and the shoes. A change during the fitting sessions or on your final day would make the difference between a perfect fit and a floppy look.
Decide the accessories you want to wear on your big day and order them well before the fitting process.

You should first select and fit your wedding attire some 6-4 weeks in advance. While at it, come with a friend or two, as these extra eyes enable you to discover things that you would otherwise have overlooked. The gown and tuxedo are very important, and so are the shoes, bra, underwear, and accessories.
The first fitting ensures that clothes are just the right size, color, and design. Examples of problematic places for brides are the train, neckline, sleeves and bust area. As soon as you wear it, your seamstress and a lady from the bridal party should inspect the dress for problems. Are there bulges or puckering where seams meet?
Your second fitting should be done a month or so before the wedding. Again, bring some undergarments that are similar to what you will wear on the final day. This includes jewelry and shoes. Are you thinking of several accessories for the big day? Bring them on all the fitting days to see which one pairs up best with the dress.
Take a few pictures with your smartphone and compare them when you go back home. Look at yourself in a three-way mirror to examine it from all angles. Are there things that you don’t like? Speak up and have them corrected immediately. The last thing you want is to have to delay the wedding for changes to be made on the dress.
