Purchasing the Rings

2 Months Before your Wedding: Purchasing the Rings

There are now just 2 months left to your big day and you can’t wait to buy your wedding rings. You will need to think a lot and do some homework before you even visit the jewelry store. What is your budget? What type of rings do you want? Any additional customizations?

You should have a budget decided as you prepare to go shopping for the actual rings. For this reason, check out several websites of local shops that sell wedding rings. This gives you an idea of what you need to shop for.

Next, make an appointment to set foot at the jewelry stores and have a look and feel of the wedding rings in earnest. Do not order wedding rings online. Pictures can be so fleeting that you order the wrong size, make and model.

Wedding rings look so different on your computer or phone screen than they really are on your hand. More importantly, talk to a professional ring jeweler to tell you the appropriate ring size. You do not want a wedding ring that is too tight to fit or so loose that they will fall off the finger.

Think about Clothes Matching and Personalization

The other very important thing that you should consider is matching the bride’s and groom’s rings. Usually, you can find pairs of rings from the jewelry shop. You can also have each ring customized according to the taste of the partners.

Many couples like to engrave the date of their wedding on their rings. Others prefer to have their names on each ring. Do you want to write special messages such as a famous saying? Make this determination before shopping for the rings. Consider having the wedding rings match the color or theme of the wedding, including clothes and flowers.

Ask all the Questions at the Jewelry Shop

Shopping for wedding rings can be overwhelming. On the one hand, the bands can be so magical that you overlook asking important questions. On the other hand, you can easily be too nervous when the feeling of the actual wedding day sets in.

Instead of developing the fear, ask all the questions you may have, including those that you think are crazy. Additionally, listen to the advice of the attendants at the jewelry shop. Just know that whatever worked for your friend who had a wedding the other day may not necessarily work for you. There are no rules. If there are, be free to break or bend them to your advantage.

Get Rings for your Lifestyle

You will be pleasantly surprised to note that there are various wedding rings to match the lifestyle of different couples. Active couples may need an extra level of personalization. If you are one of them, choose your wedding rings early so that the shop has enough time to prepare it.

For gentlemen, modern metals such as tungsten, palladium, and titanium are both comfortable and durable. On the other hand, women should use rings made of diamonds, as this is the standard. One good thing about plain metals is that men’s rings require little maintenance.

Diamond rings for women need a great deal of care. Unless you are planning to remove the wedding ring when working, you are advised to go for an elaborate choice that will shine easily on its own.

Complement your Fashion with Wedding Jewelry

Think of all the other jewelry that you will wear on your wedding day. Consider buying a wedding ring that easily complements your fashion. For most men, a watch and a bangle are enough. For women, earrings, necklaces, and bangles must all match meticulously.

Consider your Budget

Do not overlook the intended budget when shopping for your wedding rings. The price of each ring will depend not just on the material, but also on the thickness of the band, the style of ring and the size. Men’s wedding rings are often heavier and wider. They may be more costly than you originally imagined.

Women’s wings contain a diamond, gold, and other rare metals, which make them fairly expensive. As far you do not go extremely overboard with the selections, it is worth splashing some money. After all, wedding rings are the permanent physical symbols of your love, save for the wedding certificate. Additionally, you will wear them every day of your life after the wedding.

Choosing Metals of Wedding Rings

You must have heard of metals such as white gold, yellow gold, palladium, and platinum. While all these are trending and heavily advertised in wedding rings, each has its own pros and cons. These come in different colors, hypoallergenic nature, care and cost of purchasing.

Gold, for example, is 24k in its purest form and is not often used in jewelry. Instead, jewelers make alloys of gold and other metals to heighten its strength and hardness for durability. Karatage is the measure of pureness. So 18k gold contains the fewest added metals. It is harder than a 24k one and softer than its 14k counterpart, while 10k gold is most durable.

Yellow gold rings are perhaps the easiest and most reasonable to wear as wedding rings. These are also the easiest to repair. White gold is simply yellow gold, only that it has been combined with other metals such as zinc and nickel to produce its white characteristic color.

Usually, white gold will wear out fast and will require re-plating. Rhodium is the material that is used for the plating to give it a reflective yet hard surface. Rose gold comes with copper additives to result in a warm, rich hue. A popular choice for wedding rings is gold with two or more tones.

How to Choose Diamond Rings and Gems

If you do not like a plain band, choose wedding rings that come in different stones. The popular one is metals for both bride and groom. If you want to go with stones, have some personal taste while at it. White diamonds may be the most popular, contrasting gemstones and colored diamonds may also come in handy.
