Ordering your Wedding Stationery

1 Month Before your Wedding: Ordering your Wedding Stationery

If you have just one month left to get ready for your wedding, it is a good time to order stationery from vendors and service providers. These are the finer details that direct, control, and manage people at the venue.

Forgetting one simple item such as table numbers is enough to throw the whole party in disarray. The following are stationeries that you need to have hired, designed and provided. Call designers and cross these items off the list.

Seating Charts and Escort Cards

Well, both items do the same job- directing guests to their tables. Figure out which one does the work best or is more ideal for your kind of wedding. Seating charts afford you the luxury and creativity that escort cards do not.

The cost is not too different. As you make your choice, consider the material that the item is made of. While paper is generally cheaper, materials such as acrylic, chalkboard, and mirrors are more expensive. However, they are fun and stylish to have on the table.

If you have assigned tables, escort cards will come in handy. Remember we said that most weddings guests are far more comfortable with assigned seating than having them choose their tables. It avoids confusion and helps people settle down quickly.

Place Cards and Table Numbers

Do you care where your guests sit? Yes, it is absolutely important. Parents and siblings of the bride and groom should seat together preferably in a set of tables. Friends from college could be assigned common tables. The same is true for your work colleagues.

Place cards may not be important if tables have less than 10 people when seated. However, tables with numerous numbers of people need place cards. Simply put, people who know each other are more comfortable sitting together.

People enjoy so much thrill just to see their names written on a card in neat calligraphy. Some will even take the card home! It makes your guests know they are cared for and that they matter.

Welcome Signs

Welcome signs with great calligraphy inject an air of luxury of your wedding. Well, their main purpose is to do what their names suggest- welcoming guests to your big day. Place one large welcome sign in the form of pull-up banner at the entrance of the venue.

If your appointed venue such as wedding grounds or hotel is too busy, it may be important to place a welcome sign at the gate. This directs guests to the actual wedding. You do not want your guests to go sit at a different event only to realize minutes later that they are lost.

Food Menus

Are you having your wedding on a budget? Here is one item that you can skip. This is especially true if you are only serving one meal. Better still, combine the table menu with the tags that indicate people’s table numbers to save money.

If you want to whet the appetite of your guests, print one large menu in a banner and place it just before the buffet. Additionally, have several paper menus on each table. This tells guests what is on offer so they can have an idea of what to eat and drink. It is thoughtful to design a special menu for the wedding party – parents, groomsmen and bridesmaids.

Wedding Programs

Everybody will be looking forward to the wedding program. This is the master guide of the day as it indicates what will happen at particular times. It tells your guests when the wedding starts and what time it ends. Designing a wedding program is one thing, and sticking to it is another.

Traditionally, these are paper handouts at the wedding. These come in handy to emphasize the décor and theme of the wedding. These days, people opt to skip these stationeries and instead, have one large banner at the front. Whatever you choose, ensure there is a program that indicates the order of events so everyone knows what to expect.

Map to the Wedding Venue

Not everyone knows your church, wedding garden or hotel. Don’t forget to print a map of your wedding venue. To save money and space, this map can go at the back of the invitation card. Include well-known and easily recognizable landmarks such as buildings and other physical features. This prepares vendors and guests to be at the venue in good time.

Other Signage

You may need to design and print additional signage depending on the nature, size, and venue of your wedding. For example, signs to direct people to the washrooms are important. At the washroom, indicate which ones are reserved for gentlemen, ladies, and children.

People with special needs such as those in wheelchairs may need more reservations and directions. Additionally, let people know where the photo booth and guestbook are. Simply put, think of all the instructions that the guests at your wedding will need. Putting these in their most appropriate places will make your wedding proceedings smooth.
