Your Child's 4th Birthday Party

Your baby is finally growing, and slowly, he will not be a toddler anymore. His fourth birthday is finally here, and you want to make the day as memorable as possible since he is in the last bit as a toddler. Unlike when he was turning three, your child now has a lot of preferred things that should be included on their birthday to make the day special. Therefore, as you plan, it is essential to make sure that everything is age-appropriate and directly related to the kids around four years.

1. Set a Budget

Your budget will determine the type of party you will have. Therefore, it is essential to search yourself through and see how much you are comfortable spending on the event. Additionally, while setting your budget, you must ensure to keep in mind the essential things as food and the venue as well as cake and decorations.

2. Choose A Place

Now that you have your budget in place, it is time to find the place for the party. If you have a bigger room with a sized backyard space, this should not be a problem. However, if you don’t have sufficient space, it is good to start space hunting and booking a couple of months ahead. Most locations are often booked advance, and you might miss the venue if you get there late. Additionally, while choosing a place, ensure that it has all the facilities and equipment that are friendly to children within that age group.

3. Set Time

When holding a party for kids under five years should run for about 90 minutes to two hours. When you host the party at your home, it should not be open-ended. Setting time gives your guests enough room to plan for their other activities. Additionally, you will require to have enough time to prepare the room for the party and clean up after the closing time. However, when setting time, it is also essential to keep in mind all the activities you have for the day to locate time for each of them.

4. Send Invitations

You should ensure to send invitations a few weeks to the party. Often, when you send invitations early, parents might forget about it and miss bringing their kids. Therefore, if you send early, ensure to do a follow up few weeks to remind them of the event. Additionally, while drafting the card, apart from indicating time, address, and dates include other relevant information for the party. For instance, if you would like adults to stay or just drop kids and leave. Also, you can include a contact where parents can call and follow on their kid’s progress in the party.

5. Organize the Activities

The event should be a fun-filled for every guest. Now that you are concentrating on kids, your activities should be fun and engaging. Therefore, ensure they are all age-appropriate. Depending on the guests, you can come up with activities and games that engage every child at the same time. While planning for activities, keep in mind that small kids have a short concentration span so, the activities should be simple.

6. Book Entertainment

It is easy to assume the entertainment part while planning for a four-year-old party. However, entertainment is critical and should be included in your budgeting. Enquire from the professionals how their performances are, space required, and duration. You can also find out whether their set of performances will be relevant to the kids within that age group. Additionally, if you don’t have enough funds to hire professionals, you can arrange with members of a local arts club.

7. Set a Menu

Setting a menu for the party will be determined by the time of the event. You can choose to serve full cause meals or simple snacks for everyone. While setting a menu, this is the one area where you can spend as much money. Most parties often include pizza as their main menu for the day. However, that should not be your limitation for the party. You can as well have some small sandwiches, bagels, chicken nuggets, and hot dogs. While making your menu keep in mind about other guests, including adults present for the party.

8. Think About Themes

Your 4-year old has already developed interests in specific things. Therefore, when thinking of a theme, ensure to put their considerations in action. For instance, if the kid loves particular cartoon characters, you don’t have to leave that out while picking the theme. If you also want the day to feel special, you can include your theme colors in the invitation cards and at least encourage your guests to dress in certain colors. This way, the day will be more personalized and meet your expectations.

9. Bake or Buy the Cake

The cake is the centerpiece of the birthday celebrations. If you go wrong on everything else, this is the one part that should be perfect with all the details from taste to decorations. If you have a birthday theme, this is there to express it well. If you can bake and make the cake as professional as possible, that is the right way to go. It will save you money, and everything will be as per your expectations. However, if the cake is a little complicated and you don’t have all the required ingredients and decorations, buy from a local cake shop.

10. Prepare For Presents

Your kid does not understand things as an adult would. Therefore, if he decides to open the gifts during the festivities, let them understand that they may get duplicates or some they don’t like. Let them know they don’t have to feel bad due to such small issues. Lastly, ensure to mail back thank you notes to show appreciations.

11. Prepare For Unexpected

When you have a bunch of kids together, anything can happen, and it is good to have yourself ready for such issues. In case of a minor injury, you need to have a first-aid kit fully equipped. Additionally, have a few more extra hands to help in managing the activities, checking on younger siblings, and so on. Also, you need to have a plan B in case some of your planned activities are not available for the day.
